Cinvestav Irapuato participates in the UPG’s 2025 Science Fair
On Thursday, November 13, 2025, Cinvestav Irapuato participated in the Science Fair organised by the Polytechnic University of Guanajuato (UPG) to bring science closer to the community dynamically and interactively.
In this edition, three research groups shared activities designed to spark curiosity and show the importance of scientific work. The Athiyannan Lab showcased an activity entitled “¿Qué enferma a las fresas?” which translates to “What makes strawberries sick”. An introduction to crop diseases and how science contributes to their control.
Cinvestav Irapuato’s participation allowed children, young people, and the general public to learn about scientific work and its impact on society. We thank UPG for the space and all those who attended for their enthusiasm.
Children’s Day at Cinvestav
On 30 April 2025, to celebrate Children’s Day, or “El Día del Niño”, the Cinvestav Irapuato Unit welcomed students with exceptional academic abilities from the Regular Education Support Service Unit (USAER 78). The aim of this event was to promote and strengthen an interest in science. During the visit, the students took part in various activities designed to spark their curiosity and interest. Our lab provided a hands-on activity entitled “Extract DNA from strawberries”.
